I will always remember Katie. She was my best friend and neighbor for over 50 years. We exchanged recipes, took long walks for exercise, then later when we couldn't walk so good anymore we went to exercise classes. We complained to each other about our aches and pains. On Holy days and during Lent we went to church together. i remember when my daughter gave me our famous bread recipe I passed it on to Katie and we've made that sourdough bread for what seems forever. I remember once when I was making cookies my oven broke so i ran over to Katie's to finish baking them in her oven & we got too talking so much I almost burned the cookies.
many a time I would call her or she would call me & say "Meet me at the back fence." Usually she had a couple pieces of her delicious blueberry pie, cake or cookies for me & Tony or I would pass along something I had made or something from Tony's garden. She loved little cherry tomatoes.
We took bus trips together and went to Senior Church Bingo. Always saying "we never win," but we would every now and then. Lately we would go to McGraft Senior Center and play cards (Michigan Rummy) for pennies. We played two days before the good Lord called her. I know she is in a better place but all of us who knew her will miss her, but I will miss her most of all. She was not only my best friend & neighbor she took the place of my sisters. She was One Grand lady. We loved her dearly.
God Bless Her
