Kathleen Donnell (Vick) Schaefer's Obituary
Kathleen Donnell (Vick) Schaefer, age 72, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 18, 2023, in Ferrysburg, MI. She was born March 9, 1951, in Los Angeles, CA, to Charles and Barbara (Fox) Vick. She grew up in the Los Angeles area and moved to Michigan right after high school. She attended Muskegon Community College and became a Registered Nurse. Kathleen loved being a nurse and used her skills for over 30 years for various organizations in the West Michigan area.
Kathleen enjoyed going to the beach, swimming in Lake Michigan, and browsing arts and craft fairs. She routinely enjoyed the finer things in life like a nice long meal at a restaurant in the company of those she loved. She was a private individual, however most of all she treasured spending her time with her children and grandchildren. Kathleen could be described as having enormous spirit and perseverance by those who knew her.
Kathleen will be dearly missed by her children, Aaron (Elisabeth Sorenson) Sorenson and Natalie (Johnathon) Bissland; grandchildren, Harrison Sorenson, Baby Sorenson, Hayden Bissland and Claire Bissland; half-sister Carrie; and special friend John Sorenson. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Richard Schmock; and second husband William Schaefer.
A GRAVESIDE SERVICE will be held at 9 AM on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Lake Forest Cemetery (1340 Lake Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417).
