Kathy Marie Boote's Obituary
Kathy Boote, age 71, interrupted her 71st trip around the sun to receive her wings on November 16, 2025. After two life-saving kidney transplants, the first one at 20 years-old was a gift from her brother Jack, and the second transplant at age 44, received from a loving family’s organ donation, Kathy was able to have a somewhat normal and blessed life. In 2018 her kidney failed, requiring her to go on hemodialysis. She courageously endured dialysis for 7 years before deciding to stop her treatment.
Kathy is survived by her dear sister Barbara Marzuki as well as her brothers Doug and Terry. Her mom (Katie) and dad (Otto) as well as three brothers, Jim, Jack and Dennis, preceded her in death.
Kathy has many, many nieces and nephews. She was beyond proud of all of them and loved to brag and tell stories about them.
Growing up in Detroit, Kathy grew up as a hockey fan and loved going to games with family and friends. She chose to make Spring Lake her permanent home in 1979. She worked for Grand Haven Area Schools and retired after 30+ years. Animals, especially cats, were her passion her whole life.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will take place in the summer of 2026, at her favorite annual event: Beach Day at North Beach Park in Ferrysburg, MI. If you knew Kathy, she probably made you laugh. Continue to bring that laughter into your life because it enriches the lives of those around you. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to your local animal shelters: Heaven Can Wait, Faithful to Felines, Noah Project, Pound Buddies, Big Lake Humane Society or The Tapestry: donations to this local nonprofit organization support Kathy’s enduring belief in hope and resources for managing mental health. Arrangements through The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 213 W. Savidge St. Spring Lake, MI. 49456. Please consider signing the family’s online guestbook and share memories at https://sytsemafh.com
