In high school I would pick up Kathy and we would cruise to the beach, listening to Moody Blues, it was summer of 1977. Good times, but never enough. We also visited her aunt in Traverse city and rode mountain coasters down Crystal Mountain. Scary fun. We always had a epic time, throughout the years. She definitely had a zest for life.
I’ve known Kath for 50 years. We hung out at a place called the Union. ( a place in the woods we’d meet and do what every 14-15 yr old did in the 70’s)My favorite memory of your mom was we attended a class reunion at Mona Lake Boat club. You mom’s ride was leaving so we offered her a ride back where she was staying. At the time I owned a Jeep with a rag top so no back window was in. So Kath thought it’d be funny to moon whoever was behind us. We laughed all the way home. I’ll never forget that ride. Kathy was the bravest person I’ve ever known. She lived her beautiful life to the fullest. She made everyone she knew feel so much love. What a gift we all had
In the last 10 years we reconnected again, enjoying kayaking, parties in the park. Summer parties at Anglea's home. Also working together at a medical facility. She shined so bright in everything she did.
Shortly after Kathy moved to Florida in the early ‘80’s, she encouraged me to re-certify my Scuba card with her. We went on a shark feeding dive off of Delray Beach. We saw several and lived to laugh about it. That was the last time I ever saw sharks close up. I’m sure it was the first of many for Kathy.
I admired Kathy’s zest for life and was immediately drawn to any pursuit she was investigating. You might say we were “cronies” back then. I missed her when she left Florida and knew every time we met up, we would pick up where we last left off.
Her infectious enthusiasm and laugh still lingers. We must all carry on as if she’s right by our sides. She would wish that for us.
