Kenneth L. Pontius' Obituary
Mr. Kenneth L. Pontius, age 85, passed away Friday evening, December 18, 2015, at his home. He was born July 1, 1930 in Muskegon to Frank J. and Clara M. (Lamphier) Pontius and had been a life resident of the area. Ken was a four year U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War; and retired in 1992, after 35 years of service, from Sealed Power, as a Chief Industrial Engineer. Ken was a member of Calvin Christian Reformed Church where he had been active with the Calvinist Cadet program for over 50 years. He also volunteered for the American Red Cross teaching CPR. On June 20, 1952 he married the former Wilma Venema and she survives him along with their two children, Dennis (Kathy) Pontius of Jamestown, MI and Deb (Bob) Hoogeboom of Grand Rapids, MI; 5 grandchildren, Derek (Sarah) Pontius, Sarah (Kevin) Martin, Rachel (Ben) LoCascio, Melissa Kennedy and Bethany (Steve) Kennedy; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 brother-in-law, Ralph (Dorothy) Venema and Rhea (Robert) Teunis. Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Marcia Pontius on December 14, 1963; and by his parents. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 937 W. Norton Ave, Norton Shores, MI 49441. VISITATION will be 6-8:00 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
