My family would like to wish the Preston family our deepest sympathies. He knew us well and touched us all over the years.
Larry was an unforgettable character. Bigger than life, he was always there when needed and made his presence felt. I worked many baseball, basketball, and volleyball games with Larry as an athletic official, and made many lasting memories. He served our local association as a loyal member and Trustee, joining with me and a few others from the very beginning almost 30 years ago. We'll all miss his grace and humor, and the youth of our community will be forever grateful for his efforts on their behalf as a mentor, coach and official.
Those of us who shared the diamond with Larry will fondly remember his comment to a notoriously pugnacious local baseball coach when he approached Larry to argue a call. "Ahhhh, Charlie....you're in my aura!" Needless to say, that ended the conversation then and there. How can you come back at that!!! Larry's personality will be always be remembered and appreciated. See you in Heaven some day, my friend. I'll know where to find you...
