Mr. Larry D. Robbins' Obituary
Mr. Larry Duane Robbins, 82, passed away Thursday morning, December 20, 2018, in Muskegon. He was born November 20, 1936 to Donald C. and Bertha (Barringer) Robbins in Muskegon, and lived most of his life here. Larry was a U.S. Air Force and Marine veteran and was stationed in Oklahoma, Texas, and Panama. He served as a Firefighter and Fire Chief for the City of Muskegon for 30 years and had been a member of the former Lakeside United Methodist Church. On February 18, 1956 he married Martha E. Scott, and together they spent 53 years raising children, traveling with their motorcycle and motorhome, boating with family, and loved spending time with their grandchildren. Larry was an avid bowler and baseball player throughout his life. Martha preceded him in death on September 14, 2009. Survivors include 5 children: Scott (Natalie) Robbins, Steven Duane (Kate) Robbins, Kenneth (Sandy) Robbins, Richard (Julie) Robbins, Laura (Marty) Klassen; 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers: David (Jackie) Robbins, Pat (Bonnie) Robbins, Doug Robbins and Tom Robbins; in-laws: Ron and Maria Wigren, Sue and Dar Hinken; and his significant other: Sally Porter. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and 2 brothers: Don and Denny. A service to celebrate and remember Larry’s life will be held Wednesday, December 26, at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100.
