I just learned of the death of Larry my friend. I will always carry with me the good times we had together as children and teenagers, fishing on Muskegon and Bear Lake during the summer. The weekly hunting trips during the autumn and winter, with Larry and his father George, developed into a lifetime of enjoyment for me. The time we water skied on Lake Michigan from Muskegon Lake to Mona Lake, didn't seem so special at the time but has lived on in memory, especially the surprised look on my mother's face, when we showed up at our back door in, near Mona lake. She thought that we were fishing in Bear Lake. The friendship between the Derks family and the Overeem family was a large part of my growing into the person I am today. My friend Larry was a major part of that growing time.##imported-begin##Fred Overeem##imported-end##
So sorry to hear the news, our thoughts and prayers to Marilyn and the rest of the Derks family. He will be missed!##imported-begin##Greg and Meghan Cavanaugh ##imported-end##
Mrs. Derks, My thoughts and prayers are with you. I'm remembering almost 30 years ago now when my father passed away while he and mom were vacationing in Florida, also in March. Dad too died suddenly of heart failure and he was 69. Yes it seems much to young. It was a heartbreaking time for mom as she suddenly found herself without the man who consumed her time and life. I can imagine you are in the same emotional peril although feeling pretty "numb" at this time. I am glad Cynthia can be there with you. Time does have a way of healing since we have a heavenly father who comforts us. I know he will be with you and carry you even lifting you up through sad times.
You'll continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as you adjust to a new way of living. May you find our Lords blessings in the near future to give you joy and peace. Hugs, Dawn Elenbaas- a friend of Cynthia.##imported-begin##Dawn Elenbaas##imported-end##
