Larry J. Sieplinga's Obituary
Mr. Larry James Sieplinga, age 69, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning, March 15, 2011. He was born April 24, 1941 in Muskegon to Herman and Jeanette (Schutte) Sieplinga and had been a life resident of the area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, serving from 1962 – 1968, and was a member of Olivet Reformed Church. Mr. Sieplinga was the owner of McDonald’s Candies in Muskegon for 40 years. He was proud to be known as “The Candy Man”, for his delicious chocolates. On May 10, 1968 he married the former Janice A. Marks and she survives him along with their son, Jonathan (Bethany Shawn) Sieplinga of Fruitport, the “loves of his life”, granddaughter, Brooke Allynne and grandson, Zachary Robert; special sister, Gladys Killian of Muskegon; brother-in-law David (Andrea) Marks of Nunica and by many nieces and nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Jean Valentine. Larry will also be remembered for his volunteer work at the American Legion Post #28 of Grand Haven and at V.F.W. Post # 3195 on Grand Haven Road. According to his wishes, private services will be held. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery.
