Laurence John "Mr. Larry" Zaremba's Obituary
Laurence John “Mr. Larry” Zaremba, age 77, passed Monday, October 14, 2024 at Trinity Health – Muskegon Campus. He was born October 8, 1947 in Muskegon, MI to Joseph and Mary (Mazurkiewicz) Zaremba and was a lifelong resident of the area. Larry earned his Bachelors and Masters+ Degrees from Western Michigan University. Larry taught 30 years for the Mona Shores School District and was an adjunct professor at WMU in the School of Education. Larry loved traveling throughout the United States and most of Europe, especially making contact with our family in the Ukraine and Poland. He was an avid reader of history his heredity, and a collector of ethnicity memorabilia. Larry was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church where he was instrumental in arranging for refugees to come to America. He will be greatly missed for all the kindness that he has shown over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Joseph Zaremba; close cousins, Casey Zaremba, John Mays, and Ruth Ann Mays. Survivors include close family members, Harriet, Mark, (Shawn Herrera), Matthew, and Andrew Thomas; Mary Ann Scofield, Jeffrey (Stacey) Uganski, Jera (James) Adams; James (Jane) Mays, Joseph (Jesica) Mays, Daniel (Ming) Mays; Sue, Anthony, Daniel (Barb) Zaremba. Also, his special friends Frank and Zosia Piotrowski, and his loving fur companion, Heidi and all the family and dear friends that were part of his life. The Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated 11:00 AM Monday, October 21, 2024 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church (1716 Sixth St., Muskegon, MI 49441) with Rev. Fr. Phillip A. Sliwinski presiding. Visitation will take place 2-5 PM Sunday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441, where the Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 PM Sunday. Visitation will also be available one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.
