LaVerne B. Dumas' Obituary
LaVerne B. Dumas, age 80 went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 31, 2021 unexpectedly while at home. He was born on September 2, 1940 to Norman and Luella (Peterson) Dumas in Greenville, MI. LaVerne was a professional, skilled, and talented Iron Worker for over 30 years. He was dedicated to his craft and a proud member of the Iron Workers Union Local 340. LaVerne was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and made a friend with everyone he met. He loved music, enjoyed golf, and was an avid cribbage player. LaVerne had a passion for helping anyone in need; he could literally design, build, and fix anything. He also donated his time and talents to his church family. On September 19, 1959, he married, Gilpha M. Wilson and she preceded him in death on May 24, 2021. SURVIVORS include Cindy (Gary) Britton and Eric (Robert LaRocca) Dumas; 5 grandchildren, Jeremy (Lauren) Shields, Patrick (Nicole) Shields, Michael Shields, Stacey (Nate) Long and Nick Britton; brother, Gene Dumas; sister-in-law Linda Dumas along with several nieces and nephews. LaVerne was also preceded in death by his parents and brother Dale Dumas.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at Whitlow’s Forerunner Restaurant 4610 Airline Rd, Muskegon, MI 49444 on September 25, 2021 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
