Lawrence "Larry" Wright's Obituary
Mr. Larry R. Wright, age 72, died unexpectedly at his home on Friday morning, July 29, 2011. He was born January 31, 1939 in Carson City, MI to Harold and Inez (Sutton) Wright. He had resided in the Muskegon area since 1991, moving here from Grand Rapids. Larry retired in 1996 as the Regional Director of Michigan Rehabilitation Services. He also previously owned Haven Modern Laundry in Grand Haven. Larry received his under graduate degree in 1961, from the University of Michigan. He then went on to receive his Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University, in 1963. Larry had served as Past-president of both the Westland and Muskegon Rotary Clubs and of the Westland Jaycee’s. He currently is serving on the board of the Milwaukee Clipper Association and as Chair of the Muskegon Community College Board of Trustees. Larry will be fondly remembered for being a “card-shark” and teller of bad jokes. On May 25, 1991 he married the former Jane Layle Jackson and she survives him along with 2 children, Laura (Chris) Boydston and their daughter, Alysse Boydston of Traverse City, MI, Robert (Shelley) Wright and their daughter, Rachel Wright of Grand Rapids; 2 step-children, Christine (George) Earl and their children Madeline, Amelia and Ian Earl of Sturgis, MI, Mark (Jaimie) Jackson and their children Josie and Ruby Jackson of Chelsea, MI; 1 great-granddaughter, Jillean Wright and by 1 brother, Gerald (Sally) Wright of Crystal, MI. A SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE will be held 11 AM Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100) with Rev. Richard Rhem officiating. VISITATION with Larry’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Monday.
