Leo J. Rolf's Obituary
Mr. Leo J. Rolf, age 94, died Saturday evening, February 6, 2010 in Spring Lake after a rich and full life. He was born June 24, 1915 in Muncie, Indiana to Joseph H. and Emma K. (Springman) Rolf; and resided in Muncie for most of his life. He was a 1933 graduate of Muncie Central High School and had worked at Warner Gear for 45 years, retiring in 1978 as plant superintendent of their three plants. On August 11, 1939 he married the former Juanita Marie Cox and she preceded him in death on August 13, 2005. Following his retirement, Leo and Juanita split their time between Sarasota, FL and their home in Spring Lake. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Spring Lake and of Incarnation Catholic Church of Sarasota. Leo enjoyed watching sports and was a fan of the Muncie Central “Bearcats”, the Cincinnati “Bearcats” and Notre Dame. Leo loved his family and enjoyed helping his children and grandchildren as a true “fixit-man”. Leo was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Marcelline Trego, Margaret Price and Delores Bilby. Survivors include 3 children, Linda (Terry) Katt of Spring Lake, Julie (Gary) Shroyer of Nashville, TN and Michael (Patricia B.) Rolf of Spring Lake; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation or services in Michigan for Leo. As a more lasting memorial you are asked to consider St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Spring Lake or Heartwood Lodge of North Ottawa Community Hospital.
