Leona Elouise Balentine's Obituary
Mrs. Leona Elouise Balentine, age 95, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2009. She was born July 10, 1913 in New Haven Township, MI to Clarence and Bernice (Williams) Wildie and lived in the Muskegon area since 1959. On August 29, 1931, she married Arnold P. Balentine in Traverse City, MI and he preceded her in death on March 26, 1986. Leona was very involved in the Orchard View Senior Group having volunteered for the newspaper and taking part in many trips with the Orchard View Travelers. She enjoyed baking and canning and was very artistic having carved many pieces and hand-painted many pictures. She was also a Michigan history enthusiast and took many trips around the state to visit places of interest. SURVIVORS include her 3 sons, Richard A. (Shirley) Balentine of Muskegon, Ronald L. (Mary) Balentine of Muskegon, Larry O. (Mary Jo) Balentine of Victoria, TX; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Arlene Barnes of Port Huron, MI.
