Leroy Council's Obituary
Mr. Leroy Council, age 73, passed away Thursday, May 19, 2016, in Muskegon. He was born on May 28, 1942, in Shreveport, LA. to Paul and Ethel (Tims) Council. On November 6, 1964, he married the former Carolyn Murphy. Leroy served his country for 22 years and retired from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1990. He lived in the Muskegon area for over 30 years. Leroy enjoyed fixing things, reading, helping others and volunteering at V.B.S. His greatest joy was his family. SURVIVORS include his loving wife, Carolyn of 51 years; children, Robert (Shannon) Council, Michael (Elizabeth) Council, Rebecca Council and Belinda (Bruce) Schouten; 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brother, Carlton (Joyce) Council and sister, Bettie Jean Womack; sister-in-law, Paulette Council and his mother-in-law, Anne Murphy. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Paul and Douglas (Judy) Council. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at his church, St. Mark Lutheran Church (4475 Henry St). Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231)798-1100. Memorial Contributions may be directed to The Johnson Family Cancer Center or to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
