Elissa, Juliana, and Ross. Marilyn and I express our deepest sympathy.
When I think of the years Leslie and I worked together at Cornerstone Baptist, many fond memories come to mind. As minister of music and assistant pastor he was continually being used by God in marvelous ways. I remember the night we brought together church choirs from all over Mason Country to sing at Cornerstone. Leslie led the 200 voices in a final anthem, the Hallelujah Chorus. Only he could have pulled it off. Our church was packed, and it was a glorious evening.
Then, I think of the Sunday night he spoke at “Worship Him At the Marina” (WHAM), our summer series of services by the waterfront. Almost 1000 people heard him share how his Jewish father and mother survived persecution in Nazi Germany during World War II … how they immigrated to the United States … how they gave their hearts to Christ in New York City … and how they founded the Hope of Israel ministry. A tourist from Israel just happened to be walking by and stopped to listen. Later, Leslie talked with him at length about how to know the Messiah. It was no coincidence.
Leslie’s musical skills, his spiritual insights, his gracious manner, and his love of the Lord were qualities that endeared him to everyone. He will always and forever be a cherished friend.
