Linda R. Hood's Obituary
Linda R. Hood, age 68, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at home. She was born on August 20, 1955, to James and Minnie (Thomas) Hood at Fort Campbell in Kentucky, eventually calling Michigan home. Linda graduated from Flushing High School continuing her education at the University of Michigan-Flint, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. She went on to earn her master’s degree at the University of Phoenix and began working on her doctorate. Linda had a passion for teaching and made her way to Muskegon where she began teaching at Baker College in 1988 continuing to Davenport and Muskegon Community College. For nearly 30 years, Linda enlightened and helped many throughout the years as a teacher, dean and director before retiring in 2021. Along with her passion for teaching, she also enjoyed creating and making jewelry that she loved giving away to friends, family, and strangers. The pure joy and ability to make someone’s day is what she loved. Her generosity and radiant smile will be missed by so many. She is survived by her loving sister, Paula (James) Rahe; niece, Ann Marie (Dan) Love; great-nephews, Henry Love and Josh Love; sister-in-law, Judy Gerdeman; numerous cousins; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorial Contributions in her honor can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or Pound Buddies.
