Our family lived in Muskegon, MI- we had no local grandparents. Ben and Lorna adopted us and became our local family. Whenever I needed someone to care for my kids, go on home-schooling field trips, Ben and Lorna were there for me. They loved my kids, providing not only babysitting, but sharing their lives and their stories with them.
Lorna was a quilter and she made full sized quilts for all of my kids. These quilts became their favorite blankets- eventually the kids wore holes in them. Lorna mended them for us.
Ben and Lorna took my kids on a trolley ride every summer. My kids continued to request a trolley ride with Grandma and Grandpa Stroud into their teen years.
They were a treasure for our family and enriched the childhoods of my kids in their quiet, loving, steady way.
