Lorna E. Stroud's Obituary
Lorna E. Stroud, age 92, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 25, 1933, to William and Tressa (Schrader) Worthing in Muskegon, MI, where she remained a lifelong resident. She graduated from Muskegon High School with the Class of 1951. On May 6, 1955, she married the love of her life, Benjamin Stroud, in Muskegon. Together, they shared 68 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another. Ben preceded her in death on August 26, 2023. Lorna was a faithful servant of the Lord and a longtime member of Calvary Church. She and Ben found great joy serving together in the church nursery, caring for countless children through the years. They also devoted their time to volunteering with International Aid and Christian Care, reflecting their compassionate hearts and commitment to helping others. She and her mom, Tressa also dedicated their time creating quilts for each baby they were blessed with caring for in the nursery. Above all, Lorna treasured the time she spent with her husband, children, grandchildren, and family. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, kind spirit, and the love she so generously shared with those around her. Lorna was a devoted wife, loving mom, and cherished grandma whose presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered. She is survived by her two children, David Stroud and Kathy Stroud; grandson, Samuel Stroud; extended family and dear friends. Lorna was preceded in death by her parents; William and Tressa Worthing; husband, Ben Stroud; son, Steven Stroud; brother, William “Bill” Worthing; and sister, Wilma Dochstader. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 with visitation one-hour prior to the service. A Visitation with the family will be held from 5-7:00 PM on Monday, June 1, 2026, at The Lee Chapel. Memorial Contributions in her honor can be directed to Christian Care Assisted Living. Lorna will be laid to rest with her husband at Restlawn Cemetery.
