Louis Mark Trier's Obituary
Louis Mark Trier, born July 9, 1958 in Midland, MI, passed away suddenly on November 21, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Pattie Trier. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 34 years, and his sons, Steven and Michael, and his sister, Pam Trier.
Mark, as he preferred to be called, loved working on cars, being involved with Boy Scout Troop 37, hunting, drinking Pepsi, sailing, eating cheap gas station food, and, above all else, spending time with his family. He hated vegetables and learning how to use his first smartphone. A true jack-of-all-trades (and a master of many), he could fix a car that no one could coax into starting, build a table from scratch, or rewire an entire house. More simply, he loved bringing a smile to others’ faces. His most tried-and-true way of doing so was to bring his beloved parrot, Starburst, to the bank or the grocery store to see peoples’ look of surprise and hear their seemingly involuntary laughter. Starburst will miss these journeys, and Mark, very much. He taught his sons as much as he possibly could and saw each moment as an opportunity to impart to them every drop of knowledge he contained. However, his most important lessons were not how to change a car’s oil or how to replace a broken water heater; it was how to love completely and unapologetically. His passion for helping those in need was truly unmatched. Everything he did was from a place of love and rooted in a deep desire to serve others, even if it was at a detriment to himself. This is the way in which Mark lived his life, even to his last day.
Visitation will occur from 5-8 p.m. at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake. Please join us in our celebration of Mark’s life.
