It will be 50 years ago this June that Miss Nye took a chance on a young girl just out of high school and gave her the opportunity to be her secretary at the Muskegon County TB Association, for which I am eternally grateful - she taught me so much. Through the years we have maintained our friendship; especially enjoyed being with her each year to celebrate her birthday. The two crystal pieces she gave me as a weddding gift 46 years ago will remain treasured keepsakes. I will miss her and will cherish all the fine memories I have of her. Aunt Lu was like an Aunti Mame for me. Not only did she introduce me to the world of reading and books before I started kindergarden, she took me travelling all over Michigan and gave me (I suspect) my wanderlust that later found me in Africa. Her sense of independence provided a great role model by which I learned not to be afraid to go off on my own and try new things and go new places. Even though we don't get to choose our relatives, she would have been my first choice over and over again. Lu, you are loved and truely missed. Karen##imported-begin##Karen Boatman##imported-end##
I met Lu through Phyllis Snellen Wisneski when I was 13 years old. Lu gave us our first jobs working stuffing and unstuffing envelopes at the TB association when it was housed in the Lyman Building in Muskegon. She would pick us up on Saturday mornings and take us down to the office where we'd work until lunchtime. Then she'd give us money for lunch across the street at Walgreens. At the end of the day she would pay us (probably out of her own pocket) and drive us back home. I remember going to her Lakeside home that she shared with Babe for a visit. Phyllis and I remain close friends and I know what an integral part of her life Lu was. She will be missed by all who knew her.

In looking back through all our growing- up years, I remember how I looked to you for direction, comfort, guidance and your big-sister advice. I remember all the years of sharing great meals and visits with Lorrain's family. The years of dedication you put into your work for the TB Association. And how you so longed for peace in the later years of your life. My dearest sister, I will so greatly miss you, but know that you have found your peace and are in a better place. Rest now and be with us all in spirit. With love, Bunny##imported-begin##Bernice Boatman##imported-end##
I remember Lu most when I see snow and think about the "sliding" Saturdays...when she would put her rabit fur-lined gloves on my feet to warm my cold toes...she was very good to me and my family and I will miss her terribly.##imported-begin##Don Snellen##imported-end##

I'm so sad that my aunt Lucille died...she was good to me and sent me cards for my birthday and Christmas. I will miss her very much. Sometimes I cry. Douglas##imported-begin##Douglas Dale Snellen##imported-end##
Lucille Nye was a big inspiration to me when I was growing up...she taught me many things about proper etticut, manners, communicating with others, respect for others. I remember once she took me to lunch and I must have done something "improper" because I really got a lecture on my manners. But, she was a great woman, caring and concerned about all of the Snellen family. She will be loved and remembered by many people...she's at peace now but will always be in my heart.##imported-begin##Barbara J. Lambert##imported-end##
