Lureen F. Mullally, age 75, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, June 30, 2019, after courageously battling ALS for five years. She was born in Muskegon, Michigan on October 13, 1943 to Lyle and Florence (Rohr) McNitt. On Read Obituary
Chuck, I don't have a Facebook account, but Linda shared with me your tribute to Lureen. What an excellent and moving tribute. She was quite a lady. You were lucky to be able to share so many years together. Linda and I count ourselves fortunate to have had her as a friend.
Many of you have been aware that Lureen was diagnosed with ALS and faced this ultimate reality with dignity and grace. What an inspiration she was to all of us. Her smile was always present around us and her positive demeanor and love surrounded us all. What a gift she was to all of us. Rest in peace, dear Lureen. I am so sorry to hear about Lureen. I have some wonderful memories of the time Lureen and I taught Jackie Sorensen's Aerobics. She was a wonderful person, always kind and
friendly to everyone. She will be missed by many people.

A life ended all too soon. Lureen was always a bright star at any gathering. Her cheerful spirit and optomistic attitude will long be remembered by myself and I am sure all of her cousins. We so enjoyed our cousins' gathering at Lureen's home this spring and were looking forward to our next get-to-gether. Our prayers are with all of her family and friends. We will all miss this wonderful woman.
It is impossible to mention the number of times my wife Ida Ann Anderson mentioned to me that her brightest star was Lureen, as well as her best friend since 6th grade. Ann meant it then, throughout all the next 65 years, and will go on forever. I feel the same way. Probably there are others who will claim this same bond with Lureen, and you know...they are all correct. Lureen's calm confidence in her approach to other humans, such as the troubled ones, was also important to my Ida Ann. They both contributed this healing element to others: I know Psych. Major Ann surely rescued and saved 6 other humans that I know of. One teen climbed out her bedroom window at midnight and walked barefoot across town in the winter rain to our home (Her parents had taken away her shoes. She has a PhD now.). Nobody really counted, but I heard these stories, lasting over years-long efforts sometimes. I am confident that both of these brave and amazingly resourceful women continued saving people lifelong. Christmas celebrations, either in December or the summer, were greatly looked forward to and enjoyed at the home of Aunt Lureen and Uncle Chuck. The atmosphere was always warm, inviting, casual, and loving. In recent months Aunt Lureen and I would take on Uncle Chuck and Kurt in Pegs & Jokers, enjoying our time together. We have lost a bright ray of sunshine in our lives.
