Lyle Ray Dobberstein's Obituary
Mr. Lyle Ray Dobberstein, age 81 passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Poppen Residence. He was born September 5, 1928 in Muskegon to Herman and Marie (Kerstein) Dobberstein. Lyle served his country proudly in the U.S.Army. On May 21, 1953 Lyle married the former Patty Lee White and she survives him. Lyle worked as a shipping clerk at Teledyne Continental Motors for over 40 years prior to his retirement in 1989. He and Patty are members of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church where Lyle played in the Gospel Jam. He was an avid harmonica player. Lyle loved people, his morning and afternoon coffee time with the fellas. He is survived by his wife Pat; a son, Brian (Pam) Dobberstein, 2 daughters, Janan (Kevin) Carlson and Kitty Dobberstein; 6 grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Scott, Katie, Cherish, and Jimmy; 5 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Gerry and Dale Dobberstein; a sister, Ardith Burr. He was preceded in death by a brother Ken, and a sister Doris. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Friday February 5, 2010 at McGraft Memorial Congregational Church (1617 Palmer Blvd.) with Rev. Dr. Gerald J. Wahr officiating and Military Rites under the auspices of Lyle's American Legion Post #28.
