Mabel Alice Hage's Obituary
Mabel Alice Hage, age 98, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2011 in Muskegon at the Harbor Hospice-Poppen Residence following a brief illness. She was born in Lake City, MI the youngest of five children to John H. and Alice (White) Bielby on November 1, 1912. Mabel married Mr. William C. Hage in Freesoil, MI on November 27, 1934. He preceded her in death on March 29, 2001. Mabel graduated from Lake County Normal Teachers College, attended Wayne State University and Central Michigan University receiving a bachelor’s degree in education. Mrs. Hage was a school teacher at Wayne Community Schools System for 39 years, retiring in 1973. Following retirement, Mabel moved to Grand Haven and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven where she enjoyed bible study. She is survived by: a son, William J. (Susan) Hage of Muskegon; one daughter, Joann R. Athnos of Muskegon; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by, a son, Richard, her parents and five older brothers. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
