Mrs. Mae F. Schaeffer's Obituary
Mrs. Mae F. Schaeffer, age 83, passed away Thursday morning, April 4, 2013. She was born May 29, 1929 in Muskegon to Leonard and Carrie (Nichols) Gilmore. On March 27, 1948 she married Benjamin Schaeffer in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2003. In her spare time, Mae enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, reading, and cooking. SURVIVORS include 3 children, William (Kristine) Schaeffer of Muskegon, Curtis (Lori) Schaeffer of Florida, Bruce (Dorie) Schaeffer of Whitehall; daughter-in-law, Denise Schaefer of Muskegon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Hazel Smith of Texas, Nancy (Ron) Allard of Muskegon; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by 2 sons, Mark Schaeffer and Carl Schaefer; twin brother, Ray Gilmore; brothers, Jim and Tom Gilmore; and half-brother, Herb Holcomb. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., (231) 726-5210, with Rev. David Schaefer officiating. Burial will take place in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery at a later date. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice will be appreciated.
