Margaret C. Bean 's Obituary
Margaret C. Bean, age 92, went to her heavenly home to be with her husband, Rex, on April 22, 2019. Margaret passed away at the Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids, MI, her home for almost the last 20 years. She had spent the last few years battling illnesses and Alzheimer’s, but she always had on a smile. Margaret was born in Ann Arbor, MI to Ernest and Gwendolyn Hartman, who then moved to Holland where she spent her younger years through High School. She attended Western Michigan University where she met the love of her life and husband of 69 years, Rex E. Bean. Margaret went on to teach elementary music for 30 years and retired from Mona Shores Schools and then followed her husband in his ministry for years. Margaret was an accomplished musician, playing the piano, organ, violin and viola. She performed from a young age, to her university days and with the West Shore Symphony in Muskegon. She was an energetic grandmother that was always filled with excitement for her grandchildren’s life events. Her love for animals, especially cats, was passed down to the whole family. Margaret never left the house without her trademark jewelry and festive sweaters. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and wonderful friend to so many. She had a wonderful smile and her kindness and faith showed in everything she did. She is survived by her two daughters, Gwenneth L. Bean and Cynthia K. (Michael) Jakeway; grandchildren, Brittany (Troy) Hallin, Kelsey E. (Ben Hausmann) Jakeway and Jeffrey M. (Tiara) Jakeway. A time to share in Margaret’s memory will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
