Margaret "Sis" Buckley's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret “Sis” (Benedict) Buckley, age 101, died peacefully with her family at home on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Sis was born June 3, 1912 in Muskegon to Arthur L. and Margaret M. (Madigan) Benedict and was a life resident of the area. On September 22, 1938, she married Michael “Philip” Buckley in Muskegon and he passed away on September 6, 2008. Sis was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she was also active with the Altar Society. Sis volunteered many years for the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and was proud of her Irish heritage. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Michael (Ene) Buckley of Virginia, Patricia Buckley of Norton Shores, Thomas (Kay) Buckley of North Carolina; 2 grandsons, Bryan Buckley of Ohio and Kevin Buckley of Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 1 brother, Arthur L. Benedict, MD. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum as celebrant. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the Mass, 9-10 AM Friday at the church. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
