Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth "Peg" Thompson's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth “Peg” Thompson, age 97, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born January 22, 1915 in Ideal, SD, to Robert and Beth (Gore) Hampson and lived in the area for over 50 years. On January 16, 1942, she married Charles Norman Thompson in Ainsworth, NE, and he preceded her in death on May 24, 1988. Prior to retirement in 1980, Peg worked 32 years as a clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she sang with the choir, served with the funeral luncheon ministry and was active with the church quilting group. Peg was also a member of WELCA, was active with TOPS, and swam 5-days per week with the Aqua Waves at the YMCA. SURVIVORS include a step-son, Perry (Laura) Thompson of Arkansas; 1 sister, Betty O’Brien of Roseville, CA; special friends and caregivers, Eileen McCormick and Lynne Nash of Muskegon; and her extensive family in South Dakota. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Dixie Lee Thompson; her parents; and 3 sisters. A CELEBRATION OF LIFE with a time for sharing Peg’s life and light refreshments will be 4-6 PM Monday, April 16, 2012 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in the Parlor. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Biggerstaff officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
