Maria E. Mayo's Obituary
Maria E. Mayo, age 72, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the Harbor Hospice Poppen House. She was born on May 9, 1952 in Brownsville, TX to Amado and Virginia (Pedraza) Vega. Maria was a Medical Transcriptionist for West Shore Cardiology for over 20 years before retiring. She was a hard worker, being the oldest daughter and having to take care of her family and always working two jobs to support her children. Maria also had a passion for dancing. SURVIVORS include 2 children, 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren: son, Mario & Stacey Flores: Mario Flores II & Caitlin (Ava), Amilio & Bethany Flores (Hudson), Antonio & Caroline Flores (Anthony), Ethan Flores (Arielle-deceased), Payton Flores; daughter, Melinda & Brian Sharlow: Alexander Sharlow (Neiko, Samuel, Roman (deceased), Melina & Macey) Toni & Nathan Mackay (Alex, Amia, Sofia & Brodie); thought of as a son and his family, Hector Rodriguez- Rodriguez, Elizabeth Baires Rodríguez, Remy Rodríguez, Axel Arévalo Baires, Angely Rodriguez; 14 siblings; and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES will be 1:30 PM Thursday, October 3, 2024 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 12:30 – 1:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence will be appreciated.
