Marian F. Haan's Obituary
Surrounded by her loving family, Marian F. Haan stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 20, 2009. She was born August 25, 1916, to Lucius and Lillian (Young) Bolt. Marian was the last of the Bolt family to be born on the Bolt Centennial Farm in Moorland Township. She married George R. Haan on December 29, 1934 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Marian worked for Mona Shores Public Schools for 20 years before retiring as a school bus driver. She also worked for Show-n-Tell Marketing. Marian was a member of Fruitport Calvary Church and, more recently, attended Parkside Alliance Church and Lakeside Baptist Church. She was a member of the Michigan Association of Retired School Personnel and MI Education Association (Retired), Tops 545, the Red Hat Society, and Lakeside Baptist Church Friday Night Bible Study. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, George; son, Don L. Haan; and brother, Tom J.G. Bolt. She is survived by her son, Tom G. Haan of Montague; daughter, Lillian (Wes) Spyke of Norton Shores; and daughter-in-law, Sandee Haan of Ravenna. She also leaves 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Mercy Visiting Nurse Services and Hospice for their special care and comfort given to Marian and her family during her illness. According to Marian’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date at Seaman Cemetery, Casnovia Township, with Pastor Wes Spyke officiating. Suggestions for a more lasting memorial have been made by the family for Marian’s favorite ministries: Mercy Visiting Nurse Services and Hospice, 888 Terrace St., Muskegon, MI 49440, or “Manna-on-Wheels” food program c/o Lakeside Baptist Church, 2250 Denmark, Muskegon, MI 49441.
