Marie L. (Kiel) Gowell's Obituary
Mrs. Marie L. Gowell, age 83, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 in Muskegon. She was born on August 9, 1932 to Henry and Leta (Mendham) Connell and was a lifelong resident of the Muskegon area. Marie married Ellis Gowell in 1967 and he preceded her in death in 2007. After 26 years as an Accountant for the Muskegon County Government, Marie retired in 1994. She enjoyed crocheting, making Christmas ornaments, sewing, cooking and baking. She and Ellis loved to travel but foremost was always her family. SURVIVORS include her children, Anita Sturgis, Terry (LaRaine) Kiel, Karrie Kiel, Kathyrn (David) Spitler, and Mary Rundell-Gowell; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Fogg, Gail Eichorst and 2 brothers, Howard (Carol) Connell and Dennis ( Patricia) Eichorst. She was also preceded in death by her son Gary; grandsons, Joshua Kiel, Jonathan Stariha; her son-in law, Gerald Sturgis and her brother-in-law, David “Bud” Fogg. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11 am Thursday, December 31, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Rev. Michael Connell officiating. VISITATION will be 10-11 am prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Poppen House.
