Marilyn B. Martinez's Obituary
Mrs. Marilyn B. Martinez, age 69, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014 in Muskegon surrounded by her four loving daughters. She was born on January 20, 1945 in Beech Grove, AR to Cecil and Ovene (Cooper) Birmingham, and resided in the Muskegon area since 1969. Marilyn worked for GTE for 25 years, before retiring in 2000. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, traveling, and reading. On March 7, 1970, she married Raymond Martinez, and he preceded her in death on August 14, 2006. SURVIVORS include 4 daughters, Sharon (Mike) Klinge of Greer, SC, Shawn (Mike) Sloan of Battle Creek, MI, Carmen (Scott) DeFabrizio of Muskegon and Becky (Matt) Walker also of Muskegon; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Paulette (Merritt) Archer of Muskegon; foster mother, Manon Hart of Kalkaska, MI; and 3 foster brothers, Alan (Carol) Hart, Ryan (Mary) Hart and Russell (Jackie) Hart. Marilyn was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Valerie Birmingham; and brother, Donald Birmingham. FUNERAL SERVICES will be 2:30PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial Contributions to Harbor Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated.
