Rev. Peter A. Richert
Upon looking through the Fall/Winter 2017 Valpo Magazine I was saddened to learn the news of the passing of one of my law school classmates, Mark VandenBosch. (Class of 1990). Though Mark and I hadn't spoken since our law school days, I can clearly remember the way fellow classmate, Steve Cox and I used to loudly vocalize Mark's first and last name almost whenever and wherever we saw him. We used to tease just about everyone, including Mark. He would always just smile and chuckle...never letting our annoying mannerisms bother him. I will always remember Mark as being very bright, soft spoken, and just a really down to earth nice guy. Little did I know then that he and I would end up going down another career path together, the pastoral ministry, just in different church bodies and locations. Always interesting to see how God works things out. All praise to Him.
May our Lord Jesus Christ, born, crucified, and risen for Mark and for the world, bring all who mourn Mark's passing, especially his family, comfort, peace, and joy!
As we Lutherans like to say it: He is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed! Alleluia!
