Mark A. VandenBosch's Obituary
Mr. Mark Adrian VandenBosch, age 52, passed away unexpectedly on April 19, 2017 at his residence. Mark was born March 7, 1965 in Muskegon to Adrian and Lois (Dykstra) VandenBosch and had been a life resident of the Muskegon, Tri-cities area. Mark was a graduate of Western Michigan Christian High School, Calvin College, Valparaiso Law School, Western Theological Seminary and Western Michigan University. Mark, most recently, provided counseling services, specializing as an addiction counselor at VandenBosch Counseling Services, LLC, in Grand Haven. He was recently named acting Executive Director of Recovery Allies in Grand Rapids and was President of the Tri-Cities Alano Club. In his spare time, he tried to attend as many lacrosse and football games for his children, Jacob and Grace, as possible. He also loved to cook and read, including the Encyclopedia as a grade school student at Muskegon Christian School. On February 4, 2006, he married Laurie Hickman and she survives him along with his children, Jacob and Grace; his mother, Lois VandenBosch; 2 sisters, Ruth (Tim) Goudzwaard and Renee (Dave) Caswell; 3 nieces, Allison, Katie and Emily Goudzwaard; 2 nephews, Brendan and Brett Caswell; his parents-in-law, Tom and Elizabeth Hickman and the mother of his children, Mary VandenBosch. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Adrian, on May 14, 1983. A FUNERAL SERVICE for Mark will be held 1:00 PM Monday, April 24, 2017 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231-798-1100) with his friend and Pastor, Mark Bush, officiating. VISITATION with Mark’s family will be 5:00 PM – 8:00PM Sunday, April 23, 2017.
