Marshall William Winchel's Obituary
Marshall William Winchel, age 86, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2025. He was born October 14, 1939 in Newaygo, MI to Murlen and Mary (Bowen) Winchel. Marshall was stationed in Panama while he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On May 20, 1966, he married June M. Kurtzweil in Muskegon. Marshall worked over 20 years as a laborer for Dresser Industries and later worked 5 years in Research & Development for Brunswick Corp before retiring in 2004. He also worked for a time delivering mobile homes. Marshall was a “treasure” collector who found many collectibles at the yard and estate sales and auctions he visited. He enjoyed trips to Gun Lake and Little River Casinos. Survivors include his loving wife, June Winchel; 2 children, Michele (Mike) Wittkopp, Tim (Michelle) Winchel; 5 grandchildren, Abigail Wittkopp, Noah (Haley) Wittkopp, Zachary (Jamie Westbrook) Winchel, Mariah Winchel, Adam (Hannah) Winchel; 2 great-granddaughters, Emery Hall, Sophie Westbrook; 2 great-grandsons that will join the family in April; and 1 sister, Marylee Vallie. He was preceded in death by 1 grandson, Kyle Winchel; his parents; 1 brother, and 2 sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held 2-5PM Saturday, November 8, 2025 beginning with Military Honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars at 2:00PM at the Winchel Residence.
