Mart was a great guy and will be missed. To all of you we extend our sympathy and are sorry we could not attend his funeral as we are in Florida. I did have the privilege of seeing your Dad one last time at North Ottawa Hospital. We bumped into each other in a hallway. We re-hashed some old times with laughter and memories. He gave me a parting hug and one of his big smiles. That I shall remember always. May each of you find peace in knowing that he loved you dearly and find comfort in his faith and strength in God. I am one of the fortunate recipients of Marty's woodworking projects. Living next door, I went to him with a dilemma. I needed a small wooden teeter totter to use in my work as a psychologist. It was a 'coping tool' to show how to balance one's life. He loved doing projects like this and helping others. His creativity produced a perfect model for me. Now, everytime I use it in session, I think of him. He always had a big smile and a ready laugh as he sped down our driveway or across the lawn on his electric scooter. Your father/grandfather was truly an anchor for your family through many difficult times--and happy times as well. Through it all, his faith and love for God was never shaken. Dear Carol, Our hearts are heavy with hearing of Marty's death. He was so kind and gentle and accepting of everyone. What an example he set for us - he freely spoke of his great assurance in the Lord as well as lived it out. It was such an honor to know him for both of us.

Doug, Amy, Katelyn, Jonathan, Kelly, & Jenna Levering and to the Binnendyk family(s), We express our deepest sympathies to each of you in the passing away of your father(in-law), grandfather, husband, uncle, friend...His HOME in Heaven was done!! Marty was a wonderful Christian man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He was an inspiration and mentor to Scott and I, and we know he is celebrating with Jesus today. Marty lived his life as a testimony of God's love and I am grateful that we were blessed to have him for a friend. We pray that Carol and the rest of Marty's family will continue to feel God's love and comfort through this difficult time and always.
