Mr. Martin D. Bomers' Obituary
Martin D. Bomers age 86, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2015. Martin was born on September 14, 1928 to Martin and Ruth Bomers. He married Helen (Schamber) in 1950 and together they had 3 children; Carol, Paul and Todd. He served his country in the US Army and after that drove a truck for Thrill Oil Company. In 1963 he founded Bomers Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners Inc., which has won the Grand Haven Tribune People’s Choice Award for 13 years running. He was involved with the Muskegon Civic Opera and the Elk’s Minstrel Show. Martin was also a long time and very active member of the SPEBSQSA (Barbershoppers). He was also very involved in his community. Martin enjoyed brightening people’s day by putting sayings and opinions on the sign outside of Bomers Cleaners. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Beverley (Saur) Bomers; children, Carol (Mike) Alman, Paul Bomers; step children, Dana (Allen) Anderson, Drew (Eileen) Saur, Dale (Blanca) Saur as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Helen Bomers; son, Todd; and sisters, Wilma Walker and Margaret Bomers. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday July 29, 2015 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be held on Tuesday from 4-7pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice.
