Mary Elizabeth Anthes' Obituary
Mrs. Mary Anthes, age 87, of Spring Lake passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at home. She was born March 1, 1926 in Sand Lake to Edward and Mary (Giddings) Thomson.
Mary attended the United Methodist Church of the Dunes and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by 3 children: Arlene (Charles) Smith of Cedar Springs, Michael (JoAnn) Anthes of Grand Haven, Paul (Cindie) Anthes of Grand Rapids; 6 grandchildren: Todd (Michelle) Anthes, Kate (Jeremy) Drake, Walter (Katie) Smith, Elizabeth (Michael) Broersma, Derek Anthes and Kelsey Anthes; 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister, Grace Jones of Grand Rapids; 1 brother, James (Pat) Thomson of Grand Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Anthes in 1973; and 1 brother, Edward Thomson.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, November 9, 2013, at the United Methodist Church of the Dunes with Rev. Daniel Duncan officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday. Interment will take place in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Grand Rapids. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army or The Santa Claus Girls c/o The Grand Rapids Press, 3102 Walker Ridge Dr. NW, Walker, MI 49544.
