Mrs. Mary Jo Hollenbeck's Obituary
Mary Jo Hollenbeck, age 70, went to be with our Savior on January 27, 2018. In 1965 she married her high school sweetheart, Kenny. Together they were blessed with three children, five grandchildren, and two great granddaughters.
In 1976 she opened her heart to Jesus and became a faithful member of Fellowship Reformed Church. Mary Jo enjoyed serving as an Elder, leading women’s ministry, and being a part of the prayer ministry team. In addition, for over 30 years she took great pride in keeping the house of God beautiful. She was always there to share a smile, hug, prayer, words of encouragement or support to everyone she met. She exemplified 1 Corinthians 10:31, “Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
Mary Jo loved spending time with Kenny and her family at their property up north. Many memories were made around the firepit, walking through the trails marked with each grandchild’s name, and searching for their Easter candy and gifts. She also enjoyed sewing and crafted a beautiful quilt for each grandchild that they treasure.
Mary Jo is now rejoicing in Heaven with her husband of 52 years, Ken, and her parents, Marjorie Elnick and William Sadler II. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Kelly (Scott) Merz, Kristine (David) Gibbs; son, Mark (Kathy) Hollenbeck; grandchildren, Kristin, Bret, Kelsie, Kyle, and Abrial; two great granddaughters, Keeley and Brynlee; three Goddaughters, Kallie, Heather, and Alyssa; sisters, Karol Hampton-Collins, Jolee Aberegg, Geralyn Sadler, Rene’ Sadler, and Janice Powell; brothers, Bill Sadler III, Jeff Sadler, and Daryl Sadler; sister/cousin, Kim Prow; favorite sister-in-law, Benita Hollenbeck and bestie, Julie Schugars.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Fellowship Reformed Church, 4200 East Apple Avenue. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Harbor Hospice Foundation. You may visit the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
