Mrs. Mary Johanna Nuyens' Obituary
Mary Johanna Nuyens, age 95, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Mary was born in Essen, Belgium to Christian and Catherine VanAgtmael. In 1940 she married Frank Nuyens and together they were blessed with 6 children. Sadly, in 1966 Frank passed away. Mary raised 6 children and was a hardworking, dedicated woman. She worked as a cook at Orchard View Schools until her retirement in 1988. She was a founding member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. She was also active in providing funeral lunches for the church. She was well known for her chocolate chip cookies. Mary enjoyed quilting, gardening and traveling. She was a generous, hardworking, caring woman of God who will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include her 6 children, August (Lina) Nuyens, Paul (Mary) Nuyens, Tom (Sandy) Nuyens, Mary Jo Nuyens, Christine (Jim) Ferry, and Marlene (Larry Agle) Kinnell; grandchildren, Victoria, Juliet, Angie, Lisa, Laurie, Katie, Allyson, and Evan; great grandchildren, Ethan, Jackson, Jonas and Ruby. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank; parents; 3 brothers and 5 sisters. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be held at 11AM on Monday, November 21, 2016 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 3252 Apple Avenue. VISITATION will be held on Sunday from 2-4pm at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and one hour prior to the start of the service at the church.
