Matthew Koops' Obituary
Mr. Matthew Koops, age 33, of Grand Haven passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 12, 2021. He was born July 30, 1987 in Kalamazoo to Tom Koops and Katherine Cone.
Matthew was a graduate of Spring Lake High School and a member of the wrestling, and football team, as well as the theater group. He enjoyed fishing, the University of Michigan sports, going to the cabin, singing karaoke, and doting over his nephews. Matthew was a salesman for Preferred Automotive in Grand Haven and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his dad, Tom A. Koops; mom and stepdad, Kathy and David Hegedus; siblings, Scott (Kerry) Koops, and Rebecca Koops; stepsiblings, Emily (Jimi) Hegedus, and Ian Hegedus; two nephews, Bo and Brody Koops; grandma, Loretta Cone; aunts and uncles, Mary (Matt) Kasprzyk, Ed (Mechelle) Cone, and Greg Cone. And several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Ed Cone, and aunt, Sue Cone.
A celebration of life will take place this summer when COVID 19 restrictions are hopefully lifted. Memorial contributions in memory of Matthew may be given to the Grand Haven Rotary Club – Youth Services (509 Lafayette Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417), the Spring Lake Rotary Club – Youth Services (P.O.
