Max L. Walburn's Obituary
Mr. Max L. Walburn, 90, passed away Wednesday evening, September 5, 2012 at his home in Wayland, MI. Born October 11, 1921 in Muskegon to James P. and Isabella (Caron) Walburn, he was a graduate of St. Jean High School and Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Max married the former Roberta “Babe” Storms March 2, 1946 in Muskegon, and she survives him. He founded the Walburn Funeral Home in 1954 and retired in 1981, and moved to Florida where they lived until returning to Michigan earlier this year. He was a former member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include his wife, Babe; children: Barbara (Fred) Booth of Wayland, Tom (Shann) Walburn of Muskegon, Chuck (Kathy) Walburn of Medina, OH, Peggy (Duane) Chalmers of Clearwater, FL, Mike (Beth) Walburn of Grand Rapids, and Mari Jo (Jon) Tibbets of Coopersville; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL for Max Walburn will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at St. Francis de Sales Marian Chapel with Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson as Celebrant, and military rites under the auspices of Muskeogn County Council Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard. Interment will be made in Lakeside Cemetery.
