Max Francis John Wohlfard's Obituary
Max Wohlfard, age 95, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in Whitehall, MI. He was born July 1, 1927, in Muskegon, MI, to Charles and Edna (Houselar) Wohlfard. Max graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in June of 1945 and would enlist in the United States Navy in that same month. After serving his country, Max began working for Anaconda Wire and Cable Co. and would spend his career there, retiring after 35 years, as a Supervisor, in 1981. On May 17, 1947, he married Ruth Morton and they were able to spend 75 wonderful years together. Max and Ruth were long-time members of Mona Shores Baptist Church.
He was incredibly talented in woodworking and especially enjoyed making clocks. Max liked to be outside watching the birds and took immense pride in his finely manicured green lawn. He was a dedicated neighbor who would always be willing to assist with projects or take time to make a meal. Most of all, he loved is family and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Max will be greatly missed by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Sherri Schroer and Lori (Frank) Wall; grandchildren, Michelle Wohlfard, Kari (Corey) Judson, Jared Healey, and Emily (Philip) Watson; 7 great grandchildren; and sisters, Bonnie Karafa and June Hilton. Max was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arnold and Robert Wohlfard and sister, Claralou Morano.
