Maxine Leone Belmonte's Obituary
Mrs. Maxine Leone Belmonte, age 95, passed away on Saturday morning, October 22, 2016, at Sunrise Assisted Living in Grand Rapids, MI. She was born July 14, 1921 in Muskegon to Edward and Pearl (Brocker) Deyman; and had been a life resident of the area. On July 3, 1948, she married Caesar “Cesare” Belmonte and he preceded her in death on February 20, 2000, after 51 years of marriage. Maxine’s life was spent as an educator following her graduation from Aquinas College and Western Michigan University where she received her bachelor degree. Maxine’s teaching career spanned 45 years from Sparta, Michigan to Campbell School, Lincoln Park School and Giles Elementary School. Maxine was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and formerly of St. Joseph’s, Our Lady of Grace, and St. Jean’s Catholic Churches. Maxine found time to enjoy playing Bridge, painting her artwork and playing golf, along with being a Muskegon Catholic Central and Notre Dame sports fan. SURVIVORS include her daughter, Leone Marie Belmonte (and husband, William Vance) of Chicago, IL; her son, Robert Caesar (and wife, Pamela) Belmonte of Grand Rapids, MI; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, Dr. Robert Caesar (Cortnie) Belmonte II and children, Addyson Marie and Owen Robert of Grand Rapids, MI, 1LT Michael Rockne (1LT Nicole) Belmonte and son, Michael Rockne II of Lawton, OK, and Jason Shane (Sarah) Haight and children Natalie Kay and Stella Francine of Ada, OK; generations of nieces and nephews and many friends. Maxine was also preceded in death by two brothers, one sister and spouses, Leonard Deyman, Douglas (and wife, Evelyn) Deyman, Cecyl (and husband, Michael) Regeczi; and by her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law and spouses, Frank (and wife, Katherine) Belmonte, Theresa (and husband, Tony) Casadonte and Mary Jane Belmonte. The MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Friday, October 28, 2016 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 451 S. Getty St., Muskegon, MI 49442, with the Rev.Fr. Michael Olson as Celebrant. Entombment will take place in St. Mary’s Mausoleum. VISITATION with the family will be 4:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday, October 27, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S.
