Dear Janet and Guy, and Thomas and Dale,
My sympathy and condolences to you all on the loss of your father. Uncle Bud was very special to me and he is in my prayers and my thoughts. He may have come across a little short and gruff to those who didn't know him, but, he never fooled me. He was kind and thoughtful to me all my life and he never failed me. I was fortunate to have him for my Uncle.
I'll never forget the special kindness he showed to my father when he was in his final struggles with his illness. Dad knew he didn't have much time left and he was too ill to work. Zita and I were back in Fruitport, from California, helping out. We had a defective garage door on our house and Dad was worried that my Mom have to go through the upcoming winter without it being repaired. Uncle Bud came over to the house every day for a week and completely rebuilt the door. It was a fine job, and it put a smile on my Dad's face. He died a few days later. Uncle Bud really helped put his mind at ease.
I saw him and your mother, a few months before Aunt Arita passed away, on my visit to Muskegon in 2005. He was quite ill, but, in very good sprit. His dry sense of humor was still there with him and served him well. Aunt Arita was so worried about him. Little did we know then that she would preceed him. He has now joined her and the rest of the family up there, completing the circle as we all must do. May God bless his memory and he and your Mom are in my prayers.
Love from us,
David, Zita, Donald and Betsy, and Amelia##imported-begin##David Lasser##imported-end##
