SSG Michael Nathan Twining's Obituary
SSG Michael Nathan Twining, age 37, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 after a courageous seven year battle with brain cancer. He was born in Muskegon on September 11, 1978 to Dianne Errgang and Melvin Twining. Nathan graduated from Orchard View High School in 1997 and enlisted in the United States Army. He was a highly decorated 15 year veteran and had served deployments in Korea, Iraq and Afghanistan. Nathan had worked at Meijer’s, Double JJ Ranch, and enjoyed building with his dad. He lived his life for his twin boys and did everything he could to provide the best for them. He enjoyed playing baseball, soccer, track, football, boxing, golf, and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting (not especially killing), fishing, and spending time in nature with his boys and dad. Nate enjoyed playing games, especially chess and Yahtzee. He had a playful sense of humor and a deep love for life. Nathan is survived by his twin sons, Talon and Talor; his father, Melvin Twining; his mother, Dianne (Mike) Olson; five sisters, Michelle Olsen, Paige Twining, Tara Olsen, Christina Olson and Tonya Martinez; four brothers, Gilbert Martinez, Michael Olson, Tommy Hendricks and Shannon Kalloffe; grandparents, Bill and Marie Twining and Mary Twining Goodman; special family, Lori Grant Szost and family, Marsai LaBell and family, and his entire Hines Fisher House family; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and unconditionally loving friends. A MEMORIAL VISITATION will be held from 4-7 PM Monday, March 21, 2016 at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210 with MILITARY HONORS being performed at 4 PM by the Muskegon County Council. He will be laid to rest in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL at 10AM Tuesday, March 29, 2016. A MEMORIAL LUNCHEON will be held at 1PM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Fisher House, 5000 South 5th Ave., Hines, IL 60141.
