Dear Trina, BJ, Tim, Sam,
Chad and I were very saddened and shocked to hear of Mike's death. We are both in Northern Thailand and are unable to visit or to attend Mike's memorial service on Saturday, but Carol will represent us.
I have known, come to respect and love Mike ever since our early days at WMUS in 1970. In recent years, Mike and I have become friends involved in a variety of projects, most of which were just having fun. For years, Mike and I used to meet for lunch on most Fridays to discuss computers, electronics, radio, TV, and life. He was one of the most brilliant and capable individuals I have ever known and I sought his advice on many occasions.
Mike and I attended Promise Keepers at the Silverdome in 1996 and grew even closer as I learned of Mike's belief in Christ. I can't help but think of the old, somewhat unusual Ray Stevens song that we played on MUS in the old days - "Turn Your Radio On." As the song says, "Get in touch with God. Turn your radio on." Our dear Mike has done both.
