Mrs. Mildred Irene Eveland, age 96, passed away on September 21, 2015. She was born on August 24, 1919 in Fountain, MI to John and Anna (Townsend) Paxton, and had lived in Muskegon area since 1937. During the war, she worked for T Read Obituary
What a blessing it was to have met her. I'm sorry I didn't hear about this sooner so I could have attended the service.
I met Mrs. Eveland approximately 50 years ago. She was working at the Scot Tjaptkes Store at Quarterline and Apple. She told me about her daughter, Karen, and wanted us to get acquainted. She said that we had so much in common. We did, we were both single parents and each of us had two children approximately the same age. This led to a wonderful friendship with Mrs, Eveland, the late Mr. Eveland, Karen and Dale, and Connie.
Mrs. Eveland often treated me like her daughter. Often when she went on vacations she would bring me back a gift.
Until my health gave out, I was privileged to stay with Mrs. Eveland while Karen went away for the weekend. I so much enjoyed our sharing the Lord, and her memories. Mrs. Eveland was another Mother figure in my life and I will miss her.
