I only knew Millie for a short time, but she was such a wonderful lady! She was always so caring. I loved talking with you both (Char and Carrie) and hearing all about your mom. She was a very special person, and I miss her dearly.

I remember going to the nursing home to see Grandma Millie for the last time. I gave her a big hug and said, "I love you!" I am going to miss you.

Millie was a bright light at Sugar Creek Resort. Her smile will be missed. Carrie, you took excellent care of her. May your good memories help you to heal. Ginger Czubak
Char,
I came across this obit by accident, but when I saw it, I knew I had to acknowledge it. So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. Although I knew you pretty well through MHS, 1st Reformed and being "almost" neighbors, I don't think you would have known how much my Mom and I appreciated, Jay and Millie. At church, I always knew that I would get a warm "Hi" from each of them, and your Dad and Mom would always talk to me about how things were going with me. And you know how much that meant to me while growing up without a father. So, my sympathy (and Kathy's) to you, Carrie, and your family. And if there is a greeting in Heaven, it's from my Mom seeing your's and wondering what took her so long...wow, 94 years!

I remember Grandma for all of the card games we played and for always insisting I should get to stay on base in baseball for hitting the ball, regardless if someone caught it. I also remember how she got to know members of the Pittsburgh Pirates coaching staff, because she kept sneaking onto the spring training fields during practice to get baseballs. I will miss Grandma, but I’m comforted knowing that she’s now back with Grandpa.
Char & Carrie-
I am blessed to have known your mom and take care of her for the time I did. She was such a sweetheart and I wish I could’ve known her in her prime years. I’m sorry for your loss and I hope you hold tight to not only your faith, but of the memories you shared up until the end with her. I loved hearing the stories of your mom and dad and the beautiful love story they lived. My deepest sympathies-Jen Owens
My grandma Wickstra lived a full life. Grandma was able to live the majority of her life with my grandpa Jay. My grandma was very good at instructing my grandpa how to do things. I know her heart was broken when he went to heaven, so I am glad that now they can be together again.
My grandma had two stories that I remember the most. One of the stories she wished she had never told me. She told me that when she was a teenager, her and her friends turfed the courthouse lawn. I reminded her every time I saw her that there could still be a warrant out for her arrest. She claims she was in the backseat and had nothing to do with it, but I think we all know she was rooting the driver on.
The other story was about how she met grandpa Jay. That story is very true to grandma’s personality. From the day grandma saw grandpa, he didn’t have a chance in the world to escape her grasp. As the story goes, when my grandma first laid eyes on grandpa, grandma told grandpa that he could do much better than the girl he was with. It turns out the girl he was with, was his sister... and the rest is history.
I love you grandma I’m glad you’re in a better place now. Please say hi to grandpa for me.
Love, John
My heart goes out to her loved ones. What a wonderful woman she was.
My husband worked with Millie for years at Baldwin Heating and Air Conditioning What fun they had. She never failed to tell me his latest trick or joke when we saw each other always with the largest smile on her face. She was a sweetie.
Rest In Peace sweet Millie. You and Jay made the world a better place.
