It was our joy to first meet Mitch on the day he was born, Sunday, October 16, 1988, before we had to drive home to Wisconsin. We had been in town for Hope College’s homecoming weekend. We were pleasantly surprised to hear of his birth Sunday morning, as we had been visiting with you, Elliott and Diana, the evening before, with no indication of his imminent arrival! And it was our joy to be there a year ago, Angie, for your very special day together with Mitch!
We enjoyed numerous times together over the years in between. Among many images that come to mind from those years is a favorite young “cousins pic” of Erica & Mitch with Nathan & Micah sitting on a half wall at Brown County State Park in Indiana when we camping together with our families and Grandpa & Grandma Van Gent.
We’re so so so very sorry for your loss, and will miss Mitch. So very much wish we could have been there with you in Michigan this upcoming weekend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort and strength in Jesus.

My sister called me when she found out... I'm still at a loss for words! I haven't talked to Mitch in awhile but we basically grew up together so it hit home pretty hard! My heart and thoughts go out to the Van Gent family.. even though our lives have brought us all in different directions, please if there is anything you guys need don't hesitate to ask! I love you guys!

Last vacation with Daddy for Lacey's 10th Birthday. Lacey was so nervous and then rode and wanted to go again. Taylor was a Rollercoaster junkie. Gracelynn was only able to ride 3 due to her height but she rode them each as many times as she could.
